seedling update, month 1

I feel that my seedlings are growing slow. I found a heating mat that was pretty cheap (I'm also still looking into getting the snake lights) so I've been using that for the last 3 days. But I'm enjoying watching the seedlings grow.
Spinach, lettuce, kale @ 1 month
Swiss chard (no true leaves yet), pak choi @ 1 month
Romaine lettuce red and green @ 1 month
Beets @ 1 month - sown and grown outside
Kale @ 1 month - sown and grown inside
Arugula @ 3 weeks, sown inside and also left outside on the balcony
Cute purple flowers on rosemary 
This weekend, there is a sale at home depot for gardening stuff and starter plants. I'm gonna have to go and check it out! I'll see what I get and start a second set of seeds this weekend too!

    Your seedlings look great. Slow growth should not be a problem as they look stocky and not at all leggy. Are you using natural light or flourescent? Is the room cool? A heat mat is great for germinating the seeds, but they actually do better grown cooler once sprouted.

      Oh! I didn't know this! Actually it makes sense because the kale seedlings outside are doing better than the one on the heating mat. I'll take it off. Thanks for the info!

      Hi Nancy, I suppose "cheap" is relative. I found the mat at a local garden store for $25. I'm surprised how hot the mat gets. I'm slightly worried that it is cooking my seeds.

      Wendy, I used the toothpicks to keep track of which seedlings are which. Last year I had some problems with figuring out which tomatoes were which. For this batch of seeds though, all the seedlings looked pretty different.
