Indoor gardening

I was itching to play with soil all day today. I'm not exactly sure why...maybe because it was a sunny day. By the time I get home, its just too dark to do anything. But today, I was absolutely determined to do some gardening. So I set up a gardening station in the living room.
The first seeds that I started were way overdue for transplanting to larger containers and in need of nutrients. I also transplanted two yuzu tree into larger containers.
Roots on the yuzu plant
Fennel, kale, brussel sprouts and broccoli seedlings
Chia seedlings 11 days old
It was great to play with soil. Just can't wait for the weather to warm up.

  1. We often set up gardening/building stations in our Living Room as well :-) Sometimes you just have to get your hands dirty in the middle of the house ;-)

  2. I'm so jealous of your yuzu trees.

Fennel takes a long time to grow... BUT you could have quicker results while your waiting for them to grow. You could regrow one from the store and you could use the young leaves like dill and when It get's thick enough you could use It. And the pepper seeds can be grown In paper towels Source: My Grandma does that In her garden.

Cumin has never worked me. But you could grow Sesame, Quinoa, or Fenugreek or others.

Hope this helps and the sushi was delicious.

    1. I wish I had kept some more of the seedlings going. I would have sent you one. The pepper seeds are just starting to germinate...I guess they take longer to grow.

I've seen people growing Fenugreek - but I dont think I know what it is. I seems that the greens are used for cooking too. I'm very curious about growing quinoa. Maybe I will grow that in place of cumin... Thanks for the tip! I'm glad the sushi was delicious!

  3. Interesting that you are growing chia. How many plants do you need to get a reasonable amount of seed?

    1. This is the first time I'm growing it. So we'll see. I'm not sure if the growing season here is long enough for the plant to get to seed.
