Fungus on tomato?

Today I noticed some little brown spots on my supersweet 100 tomato leaf. I think it might be some sort of fungus since it looked a little fuzzy...I need to research organic or homemade ways to fight fungal infection. I've strayed away from the "organic" strategy from the standpoint of fertilizer (I'll explain in another post), but I want to stick with using organic methods for fighting insects/fungus/bacteria.

If you have any suggestions, it would be much appreciated!

  1. I have a similar problem on my in ground plants, and today I found it on one of the bucketed plants. So many of the tomato diseases look alike to me, I think I've found the answer, then the next disease I look at looks exactly the same to me. I've been cutting the infected branches off (disinfect the clippers in a bleach solution between cuts). Just keep our fingers crossed it doesn't get worse.

  2. Chamomile is a natural anti-fungal. Try using a chamomile tea concoction.

  3. Hope your tomato recovers. Try using a baking soda solution, I have heard they work well for fungus

  4. So far I"m doing what Granny is going. Cutting off the leafs that doesn't look right. Right now it seems like things seems to be in control:)

  5. Just as a note, do not compost any plant or leaves or cuttings that you thing has a disease or fungus or an attitude. :)

I'm sure you knew this, but it's always worth repeating!
